The 2010 Australian Grand Dairy Award winners were announced in style on 3 February 2010. The 20 lucky winners below were awarded Grand Champion/Champion medals for being the best of the best.

It has been many years since this iconic WA brand has made Quark. In 2009, after years of being asked "When are you making quark again?" The Casa Team found a way to get this much loved cheese back on the shelf in WA. Casa Quark is a traditional continental style cottage cheese. This smooth and spreadble, cheese has a slightly acidic finish which makes it perfect for cooking or baking.

2010 Champion White Mould Cheese

Wicked Brie

Wicked Brie is covered in a snowy white rind that bears the deep rib marks from its resting racks. When ripe, the rind gives way to straw coloured, satin-like centre , with the oozy texture of honey. Its flavour is subtle and nutty with earthy mushroom aromas.

The Wicked Cheese Co. is a boutique cheesemaker, which established itself only a few short years ago in Hobart, Tasmania.
Ashley McCoy, is the cheesemaker and hands-on owner of the Wicked Cheese Company, who produces cheese according to his motto “Quality, quality, quality”.

Heidi Farm Tilsit

Heidi Farm Tilsit is a semi-hard eye cheese, produced using traditional Swiss techniques. It has a pungent golden rind which encases a smooth, honey coloured interior dotted with shiny pin sized holes. Heidi Farm Tilsit has a rich, sweet and nutty flavour.

2010 Champion Cheddar-Style Cheese

Ashgrove Traditional Cloth Matured Cheddar

Ashgrove Traditional Cloth Matured Cheddar is made using traditional cheddaring methods and matured in a cheese cloth bandage. Each week during the minimum 15 month maturation, the rind is rubbed with oil and turned. Mould grows on the surface of the cloth bandage slowly forming a crust around the cheese contributing to the cheeses complex cheddar flavour with a slightly musty aroma.

Ashgrove Cheese

Ashgrove Cheese is located in Elizabeth Town, northern Tasmania and has been owned and operated by the Bennett family since 1993. Ashgrove Cheese specialises in English-style cheeses such as Cheddar, Red Leicester, Double Gloucester and Cheshire.

King Island Dairy Roaring Forties Blue is named after the infamous Roaring Forties gales which frequently bring westerly winds of more than 100km per hour to the island which lies on 40 degrees latitude.

The rindless cheese is matured in its wax coating, which cuts off the oxygen supply, promoting its sweet and fruity flavour and contributing to the smooth and creamy texture of the cheese. Roaring Forties blue is full flavoured with a sweet, slightly nutty character, a rich mouth feel and fruity aftertaste.
