Dairy Industry Submissions

The Government has the responsibility of developing policies and programs that protect and promote the long term interests of the broader Australian community (e.g. trade policy, R&D, health and food safety standards).  However, government actions can significantly affect the profitability and growth of potential of industries like dairy.

Therefore, the Australian dairy industry works closely with governments at federal state and regional level to ensure that policies and regulations both meet the community’s needs and provide a stable business environment in which industry can operate.

As part of this process, the dairy industry often develops and presents public submissions to government announced inquiries and reviews.  These submissions aim to ensure that any changes in government policy are based on a sound understanding of:

  • Dairy’s role in the Australian economy and society.
  • Its position on specific policy reforms.
  • How specific changes in policy could affect the dairy industry and regional communities that rely on the dairy industry.

The attached documents are samples of recent dairy submissions to major government inquiries on issues of major importance to the Australian community.
