Dairy foods have long been recognised for their nutrition value. They naturally contain over ten essential nutrients and provide over 60% of the calcium in the Australian diet. In fact, the National Health and Medical Research Council describes milk as “one of the most complete foods.
In Australia there are a number of guides that have been developed by the Government in order to help guide Australians in their eating patterns. Calcium and dairy foods are recognised in each of the guidelines. These include:
